Grapple Den Wrestling Party. Wed, October 1. Party Info
Basic Beginner Grappling Training, Practice, and Fitness Sessions
All are welcome: men, women, session wrestlers, wrestling fans, martial artists, and anyone seeking to gain fitness and to practice submission grappling in a safe, friendly environment.
Come and learn the grappling vocabulary so that you can play safely and smartly! Reduce injuries and increase your know-how. AND increase general fitness, stamina, and core stability!
Who could ask for anything more?!?!
We will primarily be practicing no-gi submission grappling based on brazilian jiujutsu. Some people will train in a gi if they plan to compete in a gi division for a tournament. We will announce "bring your gi" on the Training Mailing List if we will work on bjj that day.
This is your opportunity to learn safe, fluid grappling technique. Useful for play and excellent for fitness.
Format & Time Frame
This is a 60-90 minute basic grappling and fitness training session. You will learn grappling-specific conditioning exercises as well as basic techniques to increase and refine your groundfighting vocabulary. Escape drills and rolling are also included for putting techniques into context.
Participants will be paired with partners according to their height and weight. Beginners will work with more advanced participants whenever possible to optimize the beginner's training, especially if this is a beginner's first session. Participants will be given individual attention as needed to assure that they learn proper form and technique.
Trainers
Training sessions are run by Damien "Terror Dog" (certified professional fitness trainer, practitioner of bjj and submission grappling, and 18 years of martial arts experience), and his esteemed colleagues VeVe and Tony, both experienced in bjj and submission grappling, and both tournament competitors.
Recommended attire
Rash guard is preferred. Comfortable shorts (gym shorts or bike shorts) and a t-shirt. A fitted athletic style shirt, spandex/lycra shirt, or other non-stick material shirt, is best. Bare feet.
If you own a gi, you may bring it and roll with another gi person for the open mat portion. Our primary focus, though, is no-gi grappling.
Mat fees
Individual: $15.
Grapple Den Association Member: $10
Any 2 people together: $20
